The 2026 Boston Red Sox are red hot and have proven all the haters wrong, including this idiot

Hand up. It's me. I'm the idiot.

Everything I've written about the 2026 Boston Red Sox has been wrong. Completely wrong. It was, and is, fake news.

Frankly, I don't know why I'm still allowed to even write about them at this point. But I'm here today, facing the music and extending an olive branch to the hottest team in ... baseball history?

The Red Sox might just be. This team is quite literally unbeatable. They can't lose. They won't lose. They refuse to lose.

Boston won again Friday night, dismantling the A's, 13-1, for its ninth straight win. The Red Sox are now 27-3 over their last 30 games. They're 33-7 over their last 40. They haven't lost a series in June, and are one win away from their second double-digit winning streak in as many months.

Somehow, the Sox have gone from the worst team in the American League, to leading the league in run differential (+89), sitting comfortably in a playoff spot and knocking on the door for the division lead.

Everyone was wrong. Everyone has egg on their face. And I'm right there at the front of the line.

Name a record, and the Red Sox have probably broken it this summer. This one is probably my favorite:

Per Elias, the 2026 Red Sox are the fastest team in MLB history to go from 14 games under .500 to 13 games over at 44 days. The previous quickest was 59 days by the 1914 Braves.

Goodness gracious. Where do I even start?

Fast-forward three months, and look who was a man of the people earlier this week:

Amazing.

Durbin has been one of the best players in all of baseball this summer. A lot of fans credit him for starting this run in June when he played through a dislocated finger and hit a go-ahead home run against the Yankees.

Hard to argue:

Breslow didn't whiff on Durbin. I did. I was wrong.
