Racer Sting Ray Robb gears up for Freedom 250 Grand Prix: 'This is more than just an IndyCar event'

Sting Ray Robb will be one of about two dozen IndyCar drivers set to take the track at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix on Sunday, racing around the streets of Washington, D.C.

The 1.7-mile track will have drivers zooming near the U.S. Capitol and around the National Mall for 147 laps in what is expected to be one of the best spectacles in racing.

Robb appeared on Fox News Channel’s "The Ingraham Angle" and said he was thrilled to be able to get a chance to drive in the event, which coincides with the 250th birthday of the U.S.

"Very excited. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. I don’t think we’ll have another chance like this to race around the streets of Washington, D.C., celebrating America in this way," he said.

"This is more than just an IndyCar event. This is a celebration of our country, the freedoms we’ve been given, the opportunity that we’ve been given. As one of eight Americans in this series, it’s a great opportunity to hopefully fly our home colors top of the podium."

The fun begins Saturday morning when IndyCar holds its first practice session at 9 a.m. ET. The second session begins at 1 p.m. ET and qualifying starts at 5 p.m. ET. The first practice session can be seen live on FS1 with the latter events broadcasting on FS2.

On Sunday, IndyCar drivers begin their warm-ups at 9 a.m. ET with the green flag dropping at 1 p.m. ET. The warm-up will be broadcast on FS1 with the race taking place on FOX.
