Puka Nacua officially out for Monday Night Football as Rams suffer major offensive blow

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is officially inactive for tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Giants at SoFi Stadium.

Nacua was sidelined after developing hip and groin tightness following practice late in the week, prompting head coach Sean McVay and the medical staff to exercise caution.

The injury deprives quarterback Matthew Stafford of his top target as the Rams look to avoid an 0-2 start.

Los Angeles is attempting to rebound from a 27-7 Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, a game in which Nacua provided one of the few offensive highlights by hauling in five receptions for 74 yards.

In Week 1, Nacua commanded nearly half of the team’s total receiving output, leaving a substantial void that Adams is now positioned to absorb.

With backup receiver Jordan Whittington also hampered by a quad injury, the Rams will rely heavily on Davante Adams to draw top coverage attention while reserves Tutu Atwell and Xavier Smith step into expanded roles to keep the offense balanced.

While the offense operates shorthanded, the defense receives a massive boost from the return of legendary defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

He steps out of retirement to make his season debut tonight. Donald is expected to play a managed rotational load of around 30 snaps as he works back into game shape.
