Halloween season is upon us, and since the LSU Tigers have a bye next week, it's time for the team's mascot, Mike the Tiger, to bust out his costume.
And what better way to celebrate Halloween ahead of Saturday's game against the Auburn Tigers than by dressing as Haddonfield, Illinois' favorite son (actually, maybe he's not the favorite), Michael Myers.
And when dressed as Michael Myers, what better way to get in the spirit than by creepily stalking an on-field official just like the star of the "Halloween" franchise (except the third one) did?
KANSAS STATE WILDCATS' MASCOT FORCED TO COMPLETE ABSURD AMOUNT OF PUSH-UPS DURING 71-3 VICTORY
What a moment. There's so much happening here.
The phrase "the European mind cannot comprehend" gets thrown around a lot these days, but I'm a red-blooded American, and it still took me a few moments to process everything that happened in that clip.
First of all, you've got a guy in a costume of a tiger, inside of a costume of a guy, who is technically wearing a costume, that costume being — fun fact — a William Shatner mask painted white with the hair teased out.
It's costume-ception.
Then stalking the official like he's Laurie Strode is a real choice. What might be the greatest part of it all is the person who sure appears to be an LSU staffer telling Mike to knock it off. It made him the Dr. Loomis to Mike the Tiger's Michael Myers.
Why? Because when you've already got two losses on the year and are seeing your College Football Playoff chances draining away, it's probably best practice to not have your mascot stalking officials while dressed as a knife-wielding lunatic from a slasher movie who killed his own sister while he was dressed as a clown.
That's just me, though. Maybe others see it differently, but that staffer and I were simpatico on this one.
Still, it was hilarious, and if we're lucky, other mascots saw that, and we'll get quite the Halloween costume arms race next week.
