Buffalo Bills moved on from Sean McDermott but their offseason moves won't be enough for a title

At what point do you give up on a team? When do you say "enough is enough" and make the decision to just believe it won’t happen for a squad?

I’m at that point personally, as I can’t support the Buffalo Bills winning a Super Bowl anymore. Last season had virtually everything break correctly for them, and they couldn’t get it done, so why do we think they will this year?

As mentioned, they didn’t win the Super Bowl, and they actually lost a playoff game in yet another heartbreaking fashion. The regular season was… odd. They started with four straight wins and looked dominant. They came back in a thriller to open the year and win 41-40 over the Ravens. Then they lost back-to-back weeks to the Patriots (who turned out to be very good) and the terrible Falcons. Their other losses came against the Dolphins, Texans, and Eagles. The Dolphins and Falcons were the only two-score losses they had during the year. They struggled to beat the Jaguars, then lost in overtime to the Broncos.

I think the team also said they’ve had enough as they finally moved on from Sean McDermott. I don’t think you can really blame McDermott for everything, but sometimes you do need to switch it up and get rid of the coach. They hired Joe Brady, who is more offense-focused, and I’m not sure that was their major problem. They added DJ Moore to the team, and he might have his best seasons behind him. They added another guy who might have his best behind him in Bradley Chubb as well.

A team that probably could use help on defense doesn’t seem to have done much to address the issue. The best defense for the team is keeping Josh Allen on the field, I guess. Allen is still elite and will keep the Bills relevant no matter what the rest of their unit looks like. It just feels like this team is being pieced together with randomness instead of a full plan. I want to see them start making moves that will push them ahead, not just keep them winning double-digits and relying on luck and Allen’s magic in the postseason.

I think the Patriots take a bit of a step back, as mentioned, but I really don’t see that happening with Allen under center for the Bills. They still have a tough schedule, but 10 wins does feel like the floor for this team every year, right? They’ve had 11 wins or more every year since 2020. I don’t see that changing here. I think a fun bet for them this year is over 4.5 division wins. I think they split with the Patriots, and they should sweep the Jets and Dolphins which gives you five wins. Since 2020, they have gotten five or more division wins three times. It is +115, so I like that look for them as well.
