Bill Belichick would like you to know that his 25-year-old girlfriend isn't running things at UNC

You may be under the impression that Bill Belichick has a lot more pressing matters than addressing the role his 25-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson has as it relates to his head coaching job at the University of North Carolina.

You know, with that whole investigation into the Tar Heels football program. But in a Wall Street Journal interview published Wednesday, the 74-year-old head coach did just that.

A legendary head coach of his age can't start dating a much younger woman without some eyebrows being raised and some assumptions being made. Like the assumptions being made shortly after he was hired at UNC.

Belichick calls those ridiculous. He said, "The way the story was picked up was a long way from that. Like, 'She's trying to be the general manager of the team,' and it's so ridiculous."

She was simply doing her part in coordinating his schedule and that had nothing to do with anything going on at North Carolina. Can't a man have his girlfriend help out with his schedule? He was a busy man when he took the job.

"When I took the job here, it was December, and at that time I was doing five TV shows, the radio show, I had a book coming out. I had a lot of other things going on when I took the job," Belichick said.

An email that Belichick sent about having his requests for personal appearances forwarded to Jordon had nothing to do with the university. So she's copied on a few emails.

"Well, that was leaked as released as 'Jordon's involved in every single thing that I do, and she's copied on every email,'" the Tar Heels head coach said. "That's just a flat-out lie."

Belichick brushed off the public records requests Jordon made for any communications between reporters and university employees involving conversations about them as a request for "things that had already been sent."

Jordon is not the GM. She's not handling everything for him day to day. She's copied on a few emails and helping out with scheduling unrelated to UNC. Furthermore, she's been lying low recently.

So low that she didn't even make her debut this season until last weekend when the Tar Heels improved to 2-0 on the season with a 35-3 victory over East Tennessee State.

It almost sounds like—to this hopeless romantic, anyway—people aren’t going to stop until these two call it quits. They don't want to see these two come together and find happiness. That's a shame.
